Overview

What is Tawafuq?

A Tiqania product

Tawafuq organizes and monitors academic data synchronization between student information and learning management systems. Its primary direction is Ellucian Banner as the data source and Blackboard Learn as the synchronization destination.

The problem Tawafuq solves

When users, courses, sections and enrollments differ between SIS and LMS, operational exceptions need attention. Tawafuq structures mapping, transformation, synchronization and reconciliation instead of fragmented manual work.

Who is Tawafuq for?

  • Universities and higher education institutions
  • Institutions using Banner SIS and Blackboard Learn
  • Student systems, e-learning and academic IT teams

How it works

From setup to operation in four steps

  1. Banner · source

A conceptual stage within the product scope; implementation is confirmed during evaluation.

  2. Map & validate

A conceptual stage within the product scope; implementation is confirmed during evaluation.

  3. Blackboard · destination

A conceptual stage within the product scope; implementation is confirmed during evaluation.

Features

Product capability scope

This presentation describes product scope and direction, not production readiness of every capability. Implementation and acceptance vary by function and integration. A demo request arranges a discussion to confirm demonstration scope and availability.

  • Banner SIS connectivity

Extract required academic records from Ellucian Banner sources, particularly Oracle, according to institutional configuration.

  • Blackboard integration

Integration scope through REST API and SIS Flat Files, within supported mechanisms.

  • Academic entities

Scope includes users, terms, courses, sections, enrollments, faculty, academic structures and related relationships.

  • Schema & field mapping

Match source data to destination requirements and apply necessary transformations.

  • Synchronization management

Organize manual or scheduled synchronization within supported scenarios.

  • Incremental updates

Process changes according to mechanisms supported by source and destination connectors.

  • Validation & reconciliation

Compare records and surface discrepancies and cases requiring review.

  • Execution monitoring

Track runs, outcomes and errors so operations teams can investigate failures.

  • Data safety design

Validation and review controls before sensitive operations are intended to prevent unintended destructive changes.

  • On-premises design

Designed for deployment within the institution and control of data connections, with deployment and licensing details subject to review.

Use cases

  • Courses & sections

Organize creation and updates of destination courses and sections from academic source records.

  • Student enrollments

Track enrollment changes and address mismatches under institutional rules.

  • Investigate synchronization issues

Review execution and reconciliation outcomes before deciding to retry or change records.

Integration

The primary direction is Banner, particularly Oracle, to Blackboard through REST API or SIS Flat Files within supported scope. Local development and testing are not equivalent to end-to-end acceptance against connected Banner and Blackboard staging systems.

Scope and acceptance boundaries

Tawafuq is not a general ETL platform. Bidirectional synchronization, vendor certification and proven production acceptance are not claimed. Sensitive operations and an institution-specific acceptance plan must be reviewed before live operation.

FAQ

Questions about Tawafuq

Is synchronization bidirectional?

The established direction in this presentation is Banner as source and Blackboard as destination. Verified bidirectional synchronization is not claimed.

Has the integration passed acceptance on connected systems?

Progress in local development and testing does not establish full acceptance against connected Banner and Blackboard environments. Acceptance testing is reviewed with the institution.

Is Tawafuq an analytics platform?

No. It focuses on operational academic synchronization. Basira handles educational analytics, while Sari handles general integration and transformation.
