Healthcare

A clearer patient journey, and less admin for care teams

For hospitals, medical complexes, clinics and home-care providers, we design and build what surrounds care itself: booking, reminders and patient portals, administrative workflows from referrals to pre-authorizations, and integration with existing clinical systems, with access controls and audit suited to sensitive health data.

Challenges we recognise in the sector

  1. Phone bookings and missed appointments

The call center carries most bookings and changes, and patients have no easy way to cancel or move an appointment, so slots go unused that someone else could have taken.

  2. Paper-driven administration around care

Referrals, insurance pre-authorization requests and patient documents move between departments by email and paper, and it is hard to see where each request stands or who it is waiting on.

  3. Clinical systems that do not exchange data

The hospital information system, lab, radiology, pharmacy and booking come from different vendors, so patient records are duplicated and information is carried manually from one system to another.

  4. The sensitivity of health data

Results and reports are sometimes sent over unsecured channels, and there is not always a record of who viewed a patient’s file and when, which is exactly what a provider needs in any review.

How we help

Capabilities applied to the realities of the sector. You can start with any of them.

  • Digital patient experience

Booking by specialty, doctor and branch, reminders and confirmation, rescheduling, pre-arrival check-in, and access to appointments and results as the provider’s policy allows, with family member accounts.

    Service: Product Design & UX/UI
  • Administrative workflow platforms

Workflows for referrals, pre-authorizations, patient documents and internal approvals, with a clear status for each request, tracked time limits and alerts when something stalls.

    Service: Software & Enterprise Systems
  • Integration and interoperability

An integration layer connecting the hospital information system, lab, booking and payments, using HL7 FHIR where the project requires it, with patient identity matching and a log of every message exchanged.

    Service: Systems Integration & APIs
  • Operational dashboards

Clinic utilization, waiting times, no-show rates and room occupancy, built on aggregated data wherever possible so users see no more patient data than they need.

Service: Data, Analytics & Business Intelligence

  • WaselMessaging & notifications

Appointment reminders and results-ready notifications triggered from your booking system through one API, with a fallback channel when a message is not delivered and the status of every message tracked.

Illustrative scenarios

Scenarios showing the kind of solution that can be built. They are not delivered projects.

  1. Appointments confirmed in advance

For example, a clinic network books by phone, and some patients do not turn up or give notice, so slots sit empty while others wait days.

Booking through the app and website, a reminder flow before each appointment with a link to confirm or cancel, cancelled slots offered automatically to the waiting list, and a dashboard showing attendance rates per branch.

  2. Home care with a field team

For example, a home-care provider coordinates nursing visits by phone and spreadsheet, and supervisors cannot see how the day’s visits are progressing.

A visit scheduling platform, an app for nurses with each visit’s checklist and notes, a notification to the patient with the expected arrival window, and a live view of visit status for supervisors.

  3. Tracking pre-authorizations

For example, a hospital’s approvals team tracks pre-authorization requests through email and spreadsheets, and doctors and patients keep asking where their requests stand.

A platform that creates the request from the hospital information system with its documents, shows its status to the doctor, alerts as a deadline approaches and keeps a full history of every request.

Delivery considerations in the sector

  1. Health data is sensitive data

We apply least-privilege access, role-based permissions, logging of every view of a patient record, encryption, and hosting where the provider specifies, to support its obligations under the Personal Data Protection Law and the requirements of the relevant health authorities.

  2. Working with existing multi-vendor systems

The goal is rarely to replace the hospital information system. We build around it, test integrations in a staging environment together with the vendors, and allow for their response times in the plan.

  3. Operations that never stop

Hospitals run around the clock, so we design for high availability, put downtime procedures in place, and schedule releases in windows agreed with operations and care teams.
